he Qingdao Hash House welcomes all Hashers in China and around the world for the All China Nash Hash 2010.
Qingdao is on the east coast of China on the southern side of the Shandong peninsula, pretty much in the middle between Beijing and Shanghai. The town became a German concession in 1897 and since then it grew into one of the most vibrant cities in China. One of China’s most famous products comes from this city: Tsingtao Beer. Hashers and beer lovers all over the world will know this tasty beer. It is also home to other big brands such as Haier and Hisense.
Even though Qingdao calls itself a “Sailing City” (the 2008 Beijing Olympic Sailing competition was hosted here, as well as several sailing events - the annual Volvo Ocean Race, etc.) it is also a great place for running. The old alleys in the old colonial town are worth exploring and many old houses are being restored at the moment. Adventurous runners can also explore the remaining bomb shelters and tunnels under the old city.
Just outside Qingdao lies the Laoshan Nature Park which is a cradle for taoism and considered one of the holy mountains for taoists. The park is filled with lakes, streams, old temples and amazing views.
Come and refresh yourself with local seafood which is caught just outside Qingdao. Qingdao’s specialty “spicy fried clams” (la gala) are known all over China. And of course you can drink the freshest Tsingtao beer in this city! It’s sold on almost every streetcorner and if you want you can buy it by weight (the beer is then filled in a plastic bag).
Qingdao has it all. Beaches, mountains, fresh beer and great food.
